BRIEF HISTORY OF PMHDC'S HOUSING DIVISION:
The Housing Division has a long
history of serving rural Arizona. Programs include
Self-Help Homeownership, Down Payment Assistance,
Owner-Occupied Home Repair Programs, and assisting
rural communities to build infrastructure such as
water and sewer improvements. PMHDC
also provides technical assistance to Community Housing
Development Organizations under a contract with HUD
and for the development of farmworker housing under
a contract with USDA.
Two apartment projects provide affordable housing
opportunities for low-income persons. The Don Frew
Apartments in Marana, AZ offers one, two and three
bedroom units. The Ramona Morales Apartments in Benson,
AZ offers one-bedroom apartments for low-income elderly
persons. Both sites provide Section 8 project-based
rental assistance.
Mission
PMHDC builds communities of opportunity for all people,
including low income persons: rural, youth, elderly,
and migrant and seasonal farm workers through lending
products, capacity building, technical assistance,
business services, housing and community development.
Vision
PMHDC envisions communities of opportunity for all
people especially the traditionally underserved where
financial and educational assets can be easily accessed
including technical assistance training, quality housing,
community facilities, access to capital, and employment.
